Cover of The Hour of Beauty, by Fiona MacLeod, c. 1907.
Fiona MacLeod was the nom de plume of a writer named William Sharp, who was part of the Celtic Revival in the early 20th century. A part of Rosetti’s writing group, he apparently wrote as MacLeod because W.B. Yeates didn’t like his writing. An interesting fact about MacLeod/Sharp is that his short story “The Sin Eater” was a favorite of H.P. Lovecraft’s.
